The D-one takes up modern concepts, which have appeared on modern dinghies such as skiffs over the last 20 years, but without forgetting that a boat must remain seaworthy and safe, because the pleasure of sailing depends above all on the mastery of its craft.
With the D-One, Luca Devoti wanted to create a "3rd way".
On the one hand there is a masochistic approach to sailing, with difficult boats requiring physically over-trained athletes. On the other hand, there are extreme boats that give a lot of pleasure to the few people who master them, but whose sailing range is terribly reduced as soon as the wind rises, or when faced with the skills of a normal helmsman.
The D-One, is meant to be fun, while remaining interesting to tune and operate. It wants to put fun and play back into the centre of sailing and regattas.
