The Mini-J is a single-handler keelboat, used mainly for racing. It is an amazing boat, a scale version of the 12M JI that raced in the America's cup. The Mini-J, being the central position of the helmsman, is very adapted for the navigation of people with reduced mobility.

The Mini-J, although a keelboat, is classified here with the dinghies because of its very small size and its formidable capacity to be steered by 1 person: it is closer to the use of a dinghy than a keelboat.
Designed in 1985 by Alain Gallois, this 3.65m long boat weighs about 150kg and can be steered with a handle or a steering wheel. The helmsman sits in a seat with his head flush with the deck. This particular design makes it accessible to disabled people, a rare quality for small boats.
On the second hand market, me Mini-J is not a very common boat. We find second hand boats from individuals or clubs for a price often around 3000€ depending on the condition and the equipment.
